The itinerary starts with a large room dedicated to the evolution of Man and the early stages of prehistory. Since prehistoric archeology covers a very wide span of time and is complex due to human evolution, both from the somatic and cultural points of view, ample space is given to the illustration of the most important stages of this evolution. The archeological finds of the area are displayed within this “narrative” context. The oldest evidence so far known for the upper valleys of the Lamone, Senio and Santerno rivers roughly date to a final stage of the Upper Paleolithic. The Mesolithic is also documented with artifacts related to the facies castelnoviana.
